Originally in Geelong, Victoria, and now in Melbourne, Whitmore Press is an independent venture established in 2004 with the launch of the first issue of the literary annual Space: New Writing.
The press now publishes contemporary Australian poetry, producing signed, limited-edition chapbooks as well as full-length collections. Whitmore Press also conducts an annual manuscript prize, with a collection of work by the winner published in the following year.
The Whitmore Press publisher is Anthony Lynch.
Perhaps the most handsome books in the catchment are the signed and limited-edition chapbooks produced by Whitmore Press.
– Bronwyn Lea, Westerly
… the two books from Whitmore Press are beautifully designed … May all publishers prepared to bring out books by good new poets receive the rewards they deserve, if not on earth, then in heaven,
where they take poetry seriously.
– Martin Duwell, Australian Book Review
Whitmore Press is to be congratulated for their high production values.
This growing series of signed, limited edition volumes increases the reflex
for possession.
